Finished my book...

... if a book can ever be said to be finished. But it is, at any rate, being printed. I feel happy and relieved and lost for words, all at the same time. At the end of next week, I'll be talking about it at Port Eliot -- I do hope to see some of you there. Port Eliot is launching its first flower show this year -- created by the brilliant Michael Howells, who designs sets for everyone from Dior to the Ballet Rambert -- hence the title of my talk: Chanel, Lady of the Camellias.
More soon...

Congratulations!

I always think of John Fairchild's description of Madame Chanel in 'The Fashionable Savages;' in my mind I can see her striding through the Bois du Boulogne, hands in her pockets, like a young girl. She is ageless, eternal, unique. I look forward to your book.

Thank you both so much. And yes, John Fairchild's description of Chanel remains wonderfully vivid...
Can't wait for my blogging friends to read the book!

wonderful news and hearty congratulations! If one almost blurs their eyes of Chanel in that pic it looks like you - I am sure she has been under you skin while writing. Again congratulations.

Dear Justine,

I just read your article in the Daily Mail about your sister. I am contacting you here because I can not find your Daily Mail contact.

I would like to be in touch with you to further discuss my research into ivf and breast cancer. Please visit my site at www.ivfbreastcancer.com

Based on your article, I think you will find the reference section quite illuminating. I can be reached at babs@ivfbreastcancer.com

Wish I had some lemon cake to eat right now. Have been working myself up into a lather of anxiety about book-related matters; rather like the weather today, there were a few squalls and sudden showers. But feeling fortified by everyone's kindness here...

PS. All ideas welcomed on how to arrange an online book party for Mademoiselle Chanel.

Well, if you come to Maine we can have a book signing/talk at Left Bank Books, a wonderful bookstore owned by friends (and put you up in a delightful cabin on a lake).

The Guardian gave you a mention (and nice photo) this weekend. Staying overnight in Port Eliot? The gravitational pull of Bodinnick and Menabilly will feel very strong for somebody who is trying to keep her mind on a very different heroine. 'Last night I dreamt I went to the Tuileries again...'

Congratulations on finishing your book.
I hope I see you at Port Eliot I will introduce myself. I am entering the "how green is my Valet" section of the flower show.
Best wishes

Looking forward to Port Eliot, and to seeing Ros's entry in the flower show, and much else besides.

Love the Port Eliot estuary at St Germans, plus the neighbouring creek downriver at Antony Passage. Wish I could just drop everything and head down to Cornwall for your archive photos and Chanel talk, plus the flower show and some of the music.. and...and....

Had a need for a rapid Daphne today and nipped into Watersone's in Hastings for a copy. And do they have it? Nope. Just yards of Jodi Picoult and wall to wall Twilight titles clogging up every available surface.

Just checking the weather report for Port Eliot; rain tomorrow, but then looking fine. Fingers crossed...
