Tuesday, sunrise

Up early to finish a piece of journalism, and the dawn sky is clear. Winter blossom in my neighbour's garden is a burst of pink, and a blackbird is singing into the light...
Memo to self: must clean the windows in my study. Oh, and here's an introduction to a very cheering blog: a little bird; definitely recommended (and do have a look at the recipe for the blood-orange jelly).

Sunshine, blossom, blackbird - what a good, good list. I have sunshine, chirping sparrow and toddler dressed in fairy regalia hiding in the washing basket. Another good list.

Leaving the house at 6.55 this morning to take eldest to college for an early departure on a trip to France I was delighted to hear the dawn chorus, so Spring like.(Even though I had to scrap the windscreen.) The mist in the valley as we descended the North Downs was amazing, peaks emerging through the mist. It truly lifts the spirits.

I love the early mornings - they are my best time. When I drive to work at 6am I wonder at all the beauty and I never ever see it when I return home Iike this haiku I read
Early morning hues

Light subtle pinks, baby blues

Ribbons across sky.

The gardening book recommended on "a little bird" looks delightful.
I hope you are feeling better.

What a delightful gardening book! I look forward to exploring 'a little bird' further.

Gray skies, here, but I've a pot of muscari blooming, to bring the outdoors in: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kairuy/5423318260/

As I looked out of the window mid morning, the woods on the other side of the valley had gone, the low lying cloud had obscured them and made it look as if the sky and taken the trees away...

Hope you got your piece finished. Love the Mad Hatter, wonder why it is that so many English women gardeners are/were eccentric? Is it the effects of the mid day sun? Hence the hat and scarf combo..?

The blackbird was still singing at sunset. Finished my piece, and cooked chicken soup for my younger son. Of these things happiness springs...
