Please forgive me while I was gone...

I am so sorry for the long absence, but have been in a whirlwind of work at Harper's Bazaar, going to bed too late and getting up horribly early; though all the while -- usually at 4 in the morning -- thinking, I must update my blog! I haven't forgotten you -- in fact, I often think to myself, what would Kairu and Enid like to read in Bazaar? Or Lilac in May, or Jaywalker, or the Scrivener, and everyone else whose taste and ideas have been so important to these pages.
Meanwhile, I escaped to Tillypronie last weekend, where the garden is looking so beautiful this season -- the autumnal leaves and heathers are gorgeous to behold... and there is even a splash of blue amongst the scarlet and golden palette.

Always nice to be in someone's thoughts! And the photos are gorgeous.

I came across this site below via dovegreyreader's blog - you have probably heard of it but, being a far-flung Ozzie, I hadn't and was terrifically impressed with it. The books look so beautiful as well as interesting reads. I will be ordering from them.

It is always good to be busy, but do hope that your feet land long enough for a little rest and catch up now. These photos are gorgeous! x

Such beautiful colours in those photos. Ah, autumn - love it. Season of mists and opaque tights. You can sense the nights drawing in and see the glut of satsumas in the supermarket but there's nothing like opening a new pack of Wolford Velvet De Luxe for making me feel autumnal!
Guessed the new job would be keeping you very busy - looking forward to your first issue!

I have missed you. I am in London now and just returned from Alfriston and loved the autumn trees and all the rolling hills of the Sussex Downs. I cannot wait to read your first issue as editor. I know it will be wonderful. Yes I do love the seasons of mist and mellow .........

I have missed you! But I know that the first days of settling into Bazaar life must be a whirlwind...very much looking forward to your first issue!

Those autumn colors are glorious...here, it's most definitely fall, with the leaves all orange and yellow and scarlet, swiftly drifting to the ground. The light has changed; it is silver now.

Meanwhile I am planning to be in Cornwall next March, and making lists of things to buy in London before heading back home...

Hope Tillypronie, recharged your batteries after such a busy time. Blog absence doesn't equate to blog distance. How lovely that you are thinking of us, I am very much looking forward to purchasing the Dec issue.

Those photographs are splendid, is it me or are the autumnal colours so much more vivid this year? I truly love this time of the year. On a separate note, I have just read "My Mother's Wedding Dress" that you kindly signed for me. What a beautiful book.

Thank you, everyone -- so lovely to hear from you all. The January issue is my first one (out the beginning of December), and very much a work in progress. But eagle-eyed readers may see little bits of me in the December issue.
