I remember trying on one of those Herve Leger dresses in the 90's, when I was definitely too young to afford one, let alone wear it. The dress was surprisingly heavy, emphasizing every curve, or rather, defining curves I didn't yet have, creating an hourglass out of a rather blobby rectangle. I think I prefer the originals - I remember Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks' wife, wearing a beautiful black gown with white beading at the bodice at some awards show - to the current Max Azria reinventions.
