Daunt Books on Tuesday evening

I'm off to Marylebone High Street very soon, for an evening at Daunt Books on Tuesday 19th July, where I'll be talking to my friend and editor Anna Murphy from the Sunday Telegraph. I really hope some of you can come and join in the conversation. There will be wine, and fingers crossed, my cough will have finally gone by then (though I now have a new and unsightly symptom to be rid of, red and sticky eyes).
PS. Have discovered the curative wonders of camomile tea-bags applied to aforementioned eyes. Ah, the glamour! I'll be the woman with the tea-stains on her face tomorrow...

Oh you poor thing. You could wear sunglasses inside - it used to work for Anna Wintour. (Now she would make a good Mrs Danvers, if only we could weave her into the NI plot somehow...)

Looking forward to leaving the putrid atmosphere of Planet Grief for a while on Tuesday evening.

Helen -- I'll be the one in dark glasses on Tuesday evening. Glad to hear that you can join us; I know how hard it is to go out when you're deep in grieving, but in the words of E.M Forster (yet again), 'only connect'. That's hard to do at times, when you feel so alone, but tremendously important, if you can...
Enid: thanks for the suggestion. I'll buy the Sybille Bedford tomorrow at Daunt's, if they have it. As for the mask: it may come to that, though I have been applying camomile tea bags to my eyes, which seem to help a bit.

Justine - thank you for such an uplifting evening last night: stylish, inspirational and great fun. I opened my (beautiful) book whilst waiting for the bus: a perfect and heart-warming inscription. Thank you.

Helen xx

ps I saw no evidence of dodgy eyes. You looked lovely.

Helen, it was lovely to meet you at Daunt Books, and thank you so much for coming. I hope you have other small pleasures to look forward to in the coming weeks, to lighten your way through the vale of grieving.

I came to your talk on Daunt Books and I loved it, thank you for a really wonderful evening, I learnt such a lot and really felt that I'd understood a lot more about Chanel and her enduring influence on fashion and style. It also gave me an idea, which I'd love to email you about...my email is: e.mills@runwildgroup.co.uk Thanks so much. Emma

Hi Justine

It was great to meet you at Daunt Books. I really enjoyed the talk - it was fascinating - and far too short!

I'm the one who is getting married in Polruan in September. I was sorry to set off your cough again...

Hope you're feeling recovered now.

I'll keep you posted re my Daphne du Maurier wedding.

Very good initiative I think that's the way we have to think about it, actually when I get into those issues I like to take Generic Viagra to avoid my bad feelings.
