Hampstead Waterstones: free book, from me to you...

I'm going to be talking about 'Daphne' at Hampstead Waterstones on Tuesday at 7pm. I'll also have a copy of the novel with me, and the first person to comment here, who can come along to Hampstead on Tuesday, will be presented with said book afterwards: signed, sealed, delivered, it's yours.

Had I not already bought, read and thoroughly got myself lost in Daphne, I would be putting my name down immediately, so where is everyone?

I suspect all readers of this blog must be in the same position or live, as I do, rather too far way from Hamstead to take advantage of your generous offer.

I used to be in love with a man who had a flat in West Hamstead (that rumbled whenever a Bakerloo (as it was then) line train passed beneath. Also, my husband-that-wasn't-then and I fell in love in the garden of the Spaniard's Inn one balmy August evening when the sky over the Heath was dark blue velvet . . .

Sally -- what a romantic place to fall in love. I go past Spaniards most days, and next time I'll think of you. Which will in fact be this afternoon, on my way to the dentist!

If I could go, I would love to! Unfortunately I'm in in the US, and after reading so many good things about your book I had to order it! So I am patiently waiting for my mailman to deliver my package!

Danielle -- that's so lovely of you! I feel I should be sending YOU the book.

That's very kind of you! :) However the Book Depository has free shipping-they make it so easy to get books from the UK now! I'm a fan of Daphne Du Maurier's work (am slowly making my way through her novels and short stories), so it was inevitable that I'd get "Daphne", and I just couldn't wait for it to be published over here.

I'm glad you didn't have to pay for exorbitantly expensive shipping. I'd better link to the Book Depository right now. I'm so glad to know that you'll be one of my first readers in the US! That's really exciting for me!
