Lutyens & Rubinstein

Thanks to everyone who braved the tube strike on Wednesday evening and made it to the Lutyens & Rubinstein bookshop in Kensington Park Road. There were beautiful Coco cupcakes made by the Love Bakery (the perfect going-home present) and I fell for an adorable dachshund named Billie. In her honour, I made special mention of the Duke of Westminster's dachshunds that accompanied him on his travels with Coco Chanel: from Eaton to the Highlands, and even aboard the Flying Cloud.
Meanwhile, fireworks are damp squibs in the rainclouds above Crouch End. But I am relishing a night in...

Part of the fun of the photos from your book events is seeing how chic you are, Justine. I love getting a peek at your outfits and also those of the lovely women who come to hear you speak...I love the tote bag that came with my copy of Coco - it gives just a bit of glamour to my grocery shopping!

Gray and dreary here, too, though not raining yet. Curling up with "Must You Go?" again, which I raced through in a breathless rush at first. Now want to return to the pages I've marked, the bits that have to do with the Pinter plays I saw in readings recently.

I really enjoy seeing the outfits of the women who come to the Coco events -- all ages, all sizes, all inspiring...
This is a good time of year for curling up. I confess I haven't been reading tonight; too absorbed in a boxed set of Murder One (ancient tv series, but v. gripping).

A very striking jacket, Justine - is it Chanel? I've just "sold" another copy of your book for you - to a web friend with the same first name as you and similar interests!

Thanks so much! Very much appreciated (hurrah for word of mouth). And yes, it is Chanel... quite old, much cherished.
