To the North
Just on my way up again to Scotland, and looking forward to speaking at the Edinburgh Festival on Saturday 11th. I very much hope that blog readers and writers will be there, to talk about Chanel and her Scottish connections (tweed, fishing, the Highlands and all...). Please do spread the word...

Oh, what a shame...
I thought of you (and Chanel!) when reading the September Vanity Fair. Last Year at Marienbad is listed among 25 influential fashion films (tho curiously doesn't mention that the clothes were by Chanel). There is also a fascinating profile of John Fairchild, who had a pretty interesting relationship with Chanel (and with many designers...).
Odd not to mention Chanel's creative contribution to Marienbad, I agree. I must look at the September issue... John Fairchild's book about fashion is brilliant: The Fashionable Savages. And it really shouldn't be out of print. In fact, if any publishers are reading this, please do get it back into print again!
Hello Justine,
I met you recently at the intl convention for Chanel back in May (sue from canada).
Firstly just wanted to congratulate you on your recent nuptials.
I have read the book on Coco Chanel (the legend and the life) and i thoroughly enjoyed it. I continue to feel inspired, and filled with Coco's spirit everytime I flip through it....Thank you so much.

Sue, very nice to hear from you. I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed the book.
Just wanted to point you in the direction of a recent YouTube vlog by a very endearing Lithuanian girl (I think she vlogs mainly about beauty but is obsessed by all things Chanel - hence her YouTube channel name 'Chanelette') who talks about receiving your Chanel book for her 21st birthday. Sounds like she's been longing to own it. Thought you might like to watch.

Kate, thank you; I'm glad to know that my book has contributed towards a happy birthday...
Hello Justine. I really enjoyed your talk on Coco Chanel last night. I have often wondered if there is any merit in expensive surface coverings while people suffer poverty and hunger. How much greater would the poverty be if we did not have the solace of the beautIful things created by a woman who knew herself what it was suffer? Inspirational. Thank you.
Wonderful talk last night, Justine. I was there with four friends and we found you spell binding. No wonder you bewitched your dinner companion and he whisked you off to the Highlands... Fabulous. Many thanks
Rose and Bette -- thank you for coming last night, and for your very kind messages. I so enjoyed being in Edinburgh, and speaking at the festival. What a beautiful city it is... and to see it in the sunshine!
Belated congratulations on an immensely inspiring and thoroughly enjoyable evening at the Edinburgh Book Festival. Your eloquence, elegance, insightfulness and intelligence are truly suited to the life and work of Coco Chanel.
Thank you also for joyfully signing my seven copies of your beautiful book.
